For Rhode Island’s economic condition to improve it needs to grow some innovative companies that create high value products and services and develop a need for talented employees.

Who are the companies to lead RI’s economy forward? Check out what the experts say.

GoLocal reached out to a number of the best and brightest in building businesses and asked them what companies are best positioned for growth and to lead Rhode Island’s future economic growth.

The experts we tapped:

  • Brown University Dean Barrett Hazeltine
  • RI EDC boss Keith Stokes
  • Tech lawyer Chris Graham of Edwards Wildman Palmer
  • Providence Economic Development Director Jim Bennett
  • Betaspring Founder and Partner Jack Templin

The group identified a sweeping array companies that range smart labels to biomedical structures. In fairness, the group was asked to look beyond Hasbro and CVS to those companies that are emerging and can drive future growth and jobs.

ASA - South Kingstown

ASA is a global science and technology solutions company. While many on this list are spinoffs from Brown - ASA is fueled by URI researchers and grads.

A high profile win for ASA was their work on the Gulf Oil Spill clean up.

"ASA’s solutions are based on applied science and advanced research. Our services and products, along with our staff’s diverse technical backgrounds, are specialized in the analysis of marine, freshwater, air, and land resources; computer modeling of physical, chemical, and biological processes; geographic information systems (GIS); operational research; and data management."
